AJ traded a career in criminal justice for the work she was actually meant to do: coaching. A self-described crunchy, ranch-raised athlete and mom of two, she lives with her husband, four dogs, a snake, chickens and highland cows. This girl never sits down!
AJ has a particular passion for supporting moms through the stages that don't get nearly enough attention: postpartum, early parenthood, the messy in-between. She's a bona fide yapper and if you are playing small—not eating enough, not believing in yourself—that stops with AJ. You'll wonder why you waited so long to work with her!

Shelly spent nearly two decades in healthcare before transitioning from treatment to prevention. She's a yogi, weightlifter, and sports enthusiast. As a 40-something with a successfully launched son, she and her husband—alongside their Westie, Angus—spend their free time biking, traveling, and hanging out in Madison, Wisconsin.
Shelly's specialty lies in helping people get clear on what matters to them and make decisions that align with those values. Her clients consistently describe her as the coach who makes something finally click. You can expect a compassionate, leads-with-curiosity coaching style with just enough humor to make you giggle.

Sahara is a first generation Italian American who learned early that cooking food is love. She spends her time in Seattle gardening and advocating for shelter animal adoption, while working towards her dietetics degree. Her family's experience with metabolic health and medication gave her a front row seat to what lifestyle change can do alongside a prescription. It's shaped how she supports her GLP-1 clients today.
In her client work, she's a wizard at normal eating and helping clients build a healthy body image while finding a love for movement beyond just trying to change what you look like. Working with Sahara feels less like coaching and more like finally having a collaborative partner in your corner.

Allie spent the last decade working as an RD, providing clinical oversight to malnourished patients. She spent years writing meal plans before realizing the meal plan wasn't the missing piece people needed—it was support around making lifestyle changes. Since then, she's transitioned to coaching people not with starting and ending with nutrition, but mindset and behavior change, too. Allie first came to Hard House as a client and when the opportunity to join the team came up, it was an easy yes!
When she's not rounding up her two boys and husband or taking advantage of the hiking and boating that Idaho has to offer, she's helping clients prepare for their road races, deep diving into body image, and spreading her love of cooking and recipe development to anyone who'll listen.

Many coaches in the industry are entrenched in diet culture and it trickles down to their clients. Hard House's mission is to end this nonsense by bringing mindset and behavior change to people who want to focus on their health and improve their nutrition habits.
Sarah's obsession with helping people go from knowing what to do to actually doing it earned her the reputation as the "behavior change research oracle"—coined by Michelle Carroll, PhD(c). She built Hard House to be the antidote to the health and fitness industry's high failure rate. Hard House is an evidence-based, weight inclusive space, and unapologetic client advocates. When she's not deep in research or mentoring other coaching professionals, you'll find tucked away with a book, out training for a road race, or hanging out with her two high school-aged kids.

This varies from person to person. Some clients come in with a specific focus and are ready to move on in six months. Others are working on bigger changes and require more time for practice.
Making lasting behavior changes will take practice and persistence. The risk of returning to old habits is highest in the first two years, so our programs are built to help you keep going through the hardest parts.
How long does coaching last?
We do! While we largely market towards women—being an all women team ourselves—we're grateful for the few men who've walked through our doors. We'd love to see behavior change and eating psychology applied more to men in health and fitness.
Do you work with men?
We do! About 15% of our clientele are either currently on or have been on a GLP-1 medication. We can help you navigate irregular hunger cues, side effects, and support any behavior changes you want to make, in addition to helping you build a strong, healthy body image as your body changes.
Do you work with folks on a GLP-1?
Our 1:1 coaching investment averages around $350 per month with a 6-month minimum commitment. If you're a member of The Lyss Method, ask us for our TLM rates!
What's the cost?
We don't and here's why. Meal plans might be useful to help outsource mental load (we have some websites we can recommend), but our focus is on building eating skills. We want you to walk away knowing how to menu plan, eat nutritious foods you love, put an end to food guilt, and make this feel easy. And you only get there through practice of doing it yourself.
Do you write meal plans?
If you have a preference and she has an opening, you can absolutely choose! One of the main predictors of client success is the coach-client relationship. So if you already have a good feeling about someone on our team, you can choose them in your application.
Can I choose my coach or do you choose for me?
Yes! We love working with coaching professionals who have their own habits and mindset work they want to do. One thing to note: our resources are proprietary to Hard House. You're welcome to apply your personal growth to your own client work, but our materials aren't available for use with your clients. If you're interested in that, email info@hardhousenutrition.com for information on licensing.
I am a coach myself. Can I be a client at Hard House?
Nope! Macro tracking can be a useful strategy for some people, but it's not the foundation of what we do. Our focus is on building the skills and self-awareness to help you learn how to feed yourself without relying on a food tracker. You'll learn our normal eating model to help you learn what and how much to eat without relying on a food scale to get you there.
Do I have to track macros?
Your check-ins are completely personalized, meaning no two client check-ins are alike. A check-in form is assigned to your profile inside our app, which you can fill it out directly from your phone. You'll check in on the same day each week and your coach responds via voice memo or video within 24–48 hours. We also have call punch cards available for purchase if you want more real-time support with your coach.
How do weekly check-ins work? Are they written or calls?
Yes! Life transitions like perimenopause or neurodivergence can make improving your diet especially challenging. Our staff is experienced and equipped to help you through various life transitions and executive functioning challenges so that you come out the other side feeling confident and capable.
I'm in perimenopause /I have ADHD. Do you work with clients like me?
Still unsure if this is the best place for you? Every person who applies gets the opportunity to make a fully informed decision. Apply and come see what we can make possible together.
